How Make Homemade Biriyani

Making homemade biryani can be a delightful culinary adventure. Here's a simplified recipe to guide you:

Ingredients:

- Basmati rice: 2 cups

- Chicken or meat (cut into pieces): 500 grams

- Onions (sliced): 2 large

- Ginger-garlic paste: 2 tablespoons

- Yogurt: 1/2 cup

- Biryani masala powder: 2 tablespoons

- Red chili powder: 1 teaspoon

- Turmeric powder: 1/2 teaspoon

- Garam masala powder: 1 teaspoon

- Mint leaves (chopped): 1/2 cup

- Coriander leaves (chopped): 1/2 cup

- Saffron strands: a pinch (soaked in warm milk)

- Ghee or cooking oil: 4 tablespoons

- Salt to taste

- Water: 4 cups

Instructions:

1. Rinse the basmati rice in cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain.

2. Heat ghee or cooking oil in a large pot. Add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown. Remove half of the fried onions and set them aside for garnishing.

3. In the same pot, add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until fragrant.

4. Add chicken or meat pieces and cook until they are no longer pink.

5. Add yogurt, biryani masala powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.

6. Add mint leaves, coriander leaves, and garam masala powder. Stir everything together.

7. Add the soaked and drained basmati rice to the pot. Gently mix it with the chicken or meat, ensuring the rice grains are coated with the spices.

8. Pour in the water, cover the pot, and let it come to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and cook for about 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the flavors have melded together.

9. Once the biryani is cooked, remove it from heat and let it rest for 10 minutes. This allows the flavors to develop further.

10. Garnish the biryani with the reserved fried onions and saffron-soaked milk. Fluff the rice gently with a fork to separate the grains.

11. Serve the delicious homemade biryani hot with raita (yogurt-based side dish) or salan (spicy curry).

Enjoy your homemade biryani!
